Was give this cactus as a gift. Unfortunately, it was outside when the frost hit. Am attempting to save it. Not all was frozen. What can I do to save as much as I can?
Christmas Cactus come in many different color varieties from traditional red to purple, pink, orange, gold and white.
In each of these color groups there are dozens of common cultivators.
I would trim away any obvious dead material from the plant.
Continue to care for the plant and wait and see.

My healthy christmas cactus blooms on and off all year and is large enough to fit into a 10-inch pot planted in Miracle Grow Moisture Control soil. It just finished blooming and was gorgeous. In the past month, it's been dropping many of it new leaves every time you walk by or bump it slightly. The leaves are nice and bright green, thick and not wilted and I only water it about every 2 weeks in the winter. I have many other Christmas cacti and have never had this issue before. Unfortunately, it does not get a lot of sun anyplace in my apartment in the winter months and it seems happiest by my sliding glass door (facing north). It has many new shoots all over and otherwise seems healthy. Do I repot it now? The biggest problem I've ever had with these plants would be root rot or dropping of new buds before they bloom. Thanks for your help. Sorry but I cannot send you a photo.
The usual causes of leaf drop are temperature fluctuations, too much or too little water--over watering is the most common cause of loss of leaves and root rot, compacted soil or poorly draining soil,
poor light--partial shade during the summer and a bright light location in winter.
Make sure you actually check the soil, let the first couple inches of soil dry before watering again. Don't water on a schedule.

My christmas cactus has not blossomed yet this season, and I am worried that something is wrong with it. I got it as a gift and don't know if I am under watering or over watering. I water it about twice a week and have it near a window.

My Christmas cactus was fantastic this year! I never had one before, and I'm not sure what to do next. Do I need to trim it or move it to a new spot or what? Or do I just leave it alone?

Every year I get white stuff growing on the joints of the xmas cactus. It mostly goes away if I move it to a different location and cut it back. What is it, and can I get rid of it permanently?
Your Christmas cactus may have a mealybug or other scale bug infestation. Please see this article for more information and control methods:
