Why are the roots next to the soil real dark brown and are falling off. The plant hasn't looked good since the last bloom. What do I do if anything
It sounds like the plant may be overwatered. Make sure the soil is well draining.
If the stems are rotting at the base, you could propagate the stems.

My Cristmas Cautus is looking droopy. How to I get it to it's brilliance back?
My first inclination is to ask when you last "potted it up". Time does fly and the plant will become rootbound if in the same pot for several years. When potting up, only go up one pot size. It is said not to like too big a pot. Leaves are also sensitive to cooler night air, too much sunlight and too much water. On the other hand, it is not a desert plant as the name implies so don't let it totally dry out between waterings. Do you give it an all-purpose fertilizer during the growing season? Do you give it a shower to wash dust off the leaves; dust reduces photosynthesis. If it is outside, I would allow only indirect sunlight.
One Christmas Cactus gets sun close to windows facing south from noon and the other C.C. sits away from the window. Both plants look green and healthy; however, both grow tiny buds which eventually drop off. I don't get blossoms. Help.

Why are the stems brown about 2 inches above the soil on my Christmas Cactus? It was my sister's and she passed away so I just acquired it.
This is likely stem rot on the plant. This can occur if the soil is cold and damp. Unfortunately, this likely will kill your plant. If you have any healthy parts of the plant, you can propagate Christmas Cactus.

Why are some of the leaves yellow on my Christmas cactus? It is still growing new leaves and appears plump and healthy.

Schlumbergera Leaves are yellowing on the edges and branches are falling off. I don't see any pests and it's happening to every one of my schlumbergera plants, I have many of all ages. I don't let them dry out, only dry slightly on top and they do get some direct sun from a window a few feet away. What is wrong?
Yellowing leaves can be watering issues, pest, disease or improper lighting.
