My husband repotted our fern. It started to have shoots all over the place. We couldn't water it, as it was root bound and water ran off the plant. He decided to separate it and I now have a spindly fern that he wants to get a different pot for because he thinks the problem was the pot it was in. The pot is a pedestal pot and the fern looked beautiful in it. Any help please!!!!

If I hung them in my heated garage(60) in October when would I clip them down and when would I start to fertilize them if I wanted to hang them outside again in May? Would I use Miracle Grow 1/2 strength to fertilize? If I wanted to repot in larger pots when would I do that? And can I use Miracle Grow potting soil? How often should I water under these conditions? I bought 20 this year and I can't afford to ever buy again like that. Thank you! Diane Swartz

Do you cut off the tendrils that have no leaves?
These are actually the runners, they can be removed from the plant if you do not wish to divide and propagate the plant.

The fonds are all sappy & sticky. Why?
This is likely Honeydew, from a pest infestation.
