I live in Northeast Georgia. Will my Boston Ferns survive the winter if I leave them outside in their pots? Thank you for your assistance. Noni Hammerstrand
Unfortunately, these will only survive in climate zones 10-11. They make very nice houseplants if you know how to care for them. This article will help you: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/boston-fern/boston-fern-care.htm
My Boston fern has recently developed small tear-drop shaped bulbs on some of the stems. The fern has adequate light and water and is indoors. Several leaves have died. What has caused this, and what to do?

If so, it is perfectly normal, and provides an opportunity to propagate the plant if you choose.
My fern has shoots or long tenickes with no leaves
This is normal, and nothing to be concerned about. Those leafless runners are just a sign that the plant could use some pruning. Here is an article that will help:

I have this fern (not sure what species) in my house. Its roots are growing outwards. I am not sure what I should do with them. I tried cutting a length of about 4 inches and planting it but it doesn’t grow. Tried to bury them without cutting and it doesn’t grow too. How can I use them to propagate?
Those are leafless runners. It can be a little difficult to start from these, but is possible. It is best to start ferns from its spores, which grow as a rusty substance on the underside of the leaves.
These runners indicate that the fern could use a little trimming up, and possibly a slightly bigger pot. Here is an article for more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/boston-fern/trimming-boston-ferns.htm
I want to put my Boston fern in the ground will it come back in the spring
As long as you are within USDA zones 8-12 then yes. Otherwise, they might not survive. Here is an article on their care: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/houseplants/boston-fern/boston-fern-care.htm
They will stay outside all writer, they are in hanging baskets, in a great place but I am concerned about our cold winter nights. We are in N CA. Will they like a frost blanket over them?
A frost blanket won't protect the roots which ultimately decides whether a plant makes it through the winter. Here in an article on overwintering boston fern.

It looks like something is eating new growth. What would cause this?
There are many pests that will eat this. Depending on if these are house ferns, or outdoor will further determine the pest. Indoor, the usual pests are insects, or fungal infection. Outdoors get very complicated. Many mammals, birds, and reptiles will eat these.
There are many ways to keep pests off of these. Neem oil works very well, as does garlic extract, and Hot pepper extract. Just be careful not to get any of this into your eyes or mouth.
