My shrubbery trimmer got carried away and trimmed my huge azaleas as he would a holly or other shrub. He trimmed them flat on top and the sides. I want them back to a more "natural" look but need advice on how to prune them to get this look.
You will have to wait a full season, if not two, to see what needs to be cut to put it back to a more natural shape. Once you can see what you need to cut, you can work from there.
Yes I purchased an Azalea plant about Two month ago. this plant has bloomed really nice indoor in sunshine. Now all the blooms are starting to wilter on the edge. Is it possible the blooms will fall off and start new all over again. waiting for all frost to dissaper before plating outdoors. Hopefully around May 30.
This can be the natural process indoors, as there is much less light, and humidity here. Once you are able to plant outdoors, it will make a full recovery. should I prune azaleas that the deer at the leaves off of. The plants are full and green on the bottom and have about 12" in bare branches around the plant where the deer ate the leaves. thanks, Linda
You can trim or prune up damaged areas of the shrubs at anytime.

I planted an azalea bush around the 1st of April,no freeze but received 10 inches of rain in 10 days. Flowering was looking good, no many of the flowers have fallen off- was the plant damaged with too much water?
The rain simply may have knocked off the flowers. Make sure the soil is draining. If the soil is poorly draining it can lead to root rot.
The azaleas I planted last year seem to be dead. No leaves - well maybe a couple of tiny ones. Last summer was tough - very hot and dry. I did mulch when I planted, tried to water weekly (but couldn't do daily) and mulched again in fall. Live in Rochester, NY. Any chance there is hope for them or should I give them up?
The issue of stressed plants going into winter, and severe winter die back may be quite a bit to overcome.
I would certainly trim up the plants, feed and water.

I have an azalea potted plant i got for mother's day, the florist said it is an indoor plant. I have seen azaleas planted outdoors. Could I plant mine outside?
There are a few factors to determine this. This will depend on your climate zone, the specific cultivar of Azalea that you have, and if you have the proper soil. Include as much information about your area as possible, and the azalea that you have, and I will be more than glad to help!
