I have grown a couple of these in the past and they get real tall and spindly and they end up dying I need someone to tell me how to prune it so I don't end up losing another one. It seems to be growing very well so far. Any help would be very much appreciated!
I hope you don’t mind that I googled this and got the following answer (see below). Additionally indoor avocado plants need lots of light (again I googled this).
Pruning From Seed Growth
If you grow an avocado plant from seed, the shoot typically grows into a single, spindly stem. When it reaches 6 to 8 inches in height, remove half its height to prompt the plant to branch out. When each new branch reaches 8 inches, pinch off each growing tip to encourage a second round of branching. Continue this process until the plant achieves the desired fullness.
Our Avocado tree produces hundreds, maybe thousands of fruit, but all but a half dozen or less actually grow up and survive as regular sized fruit. The fruit starts falling off when they become golfball-ish size. The tree seems healthy. I live in Cape Coral, Florida (SW).
It is very normal for them to drop many fruits, as they will not make it to maturity anyways. This is a survival adaptation so that they get, at least, a few fruit.
It is likely that the soil lacks a sufficient amount of phosphorous and potassium to sustain a large fruit crop. I would make sure to fertilize the tree with a specific avocado fertilizer yearly, or add a good layer of compost around the area each year. This will help maximize the fruit production, as well as keep your tree healthy throughout the year. What is doing this to my avocado tree and how to treat
Although it looks a bit like insect damage, it also looks fungal. I would look to see if you can find any signs of, exactly, which pest it is. If you can't find any other signs than the holes, then it is most likely fungal.

I have a three year old avocado tree. It’s 9 ft tall with three main branches coming up from the root Do I need to cut two of those branches and leave only one? Many thanks
Although this is best done when the tree is young, it could still help it out to only have one trunk.
Keeping all of the growth at the base cut, and letting one leader take over will increase overall productivity and health. This article will help you to grow avocados: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/edible/fruits/avocado/avocado-tree-growing.htm
It looks like something is chewing away at the leaves, but when I look closely at the leaves there's nothing there.
Some pests are very tiny and difficult to see with the naked eye. Also some pests like slugs or snails only feed in the night.
Neem Oil is a good treatment and the article below has more info for slugs.

My avocado plants have brown leaves and one has leaves curling and looking sick. Some leaves are just the tips but others are inside the leave. Can you advise?
I see several things going on here!
The container is quite large for a small root mass. This means that the soil may not lose moisture fast enough, leaving it soggy and lacking oxygen.
It is important to let the soil dry, completely, down to about 2 or 3 inches before watering again. This will ensure that the soil remains aerated and free from infection.
From here, you will have to treat the upper portions of the plant with a spray fungicide. This article will help: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/info/using-fungicides-in-garden.htm
You can also treat the soil with a handful of DOLOMITIC LIME and just a teaspoon of WETTABLE SULFUR. Do this once or twice per year to keep the soil conditioned.

I have what is supposed to be a young Hass avocado. This summer it produced eight or nine small, smooth, black fruits. By small, I mean about one-quarter to one-third the size of a regular avocado. We tried to leave them alone until they got larger, but they all fell from the tree and never got to the size or outside texture we recognize as Hass avocados. Is there something wrong with this tree?
If this is the only avocado that you have, and there are no others around, then this will be the issue. They will need another of a different flowering type in order to produce fruit.
If there are others nearby, then it may be that the tree is too young, or there is too much nitrogen/not enough phosphorus and potassium in the soil.
