I have an amaryllis that I have held over the spring, summer. Instructions said to take out of bag 3 mon. ahead of time. There are plenty of leaves but no indication of blooms. How can I help the plant get blooms?
My greenhouse is starting to freeze. Have lifted the bulbs, hosed off and am drying in the sun. Still have green tops on. Do I cut that off before putting in the basement to store for a few months or store and remove when browned off? First time I have summered them in the greenhouse and they are really healthy. Also, can I trim back the roots or do I leave them long like they are?
Yes, once plants are dry, cut the leaves off (trim the stem/foliage back to about 3 inches from above the bulb), wrap in newspaper and store in a dark, cool location. You can trim the roots if they are quite long but it is best to leave them intact if possible.
I put my Amaryllis out during the summer and it bloomed in September. Now it's inside with one leaf. I don't know how to treat it since I brought it in. Does it need a dormant period, will it bloom around December, what about watering it? I am perplexed about how to take care of this beautiful plant. It's November and I live in zone 5/6, mid-Indiana.
Getting the Amaryllis to re bloom can be difficult and getting it to bloom at Christmas even trickier.
Here is a link that will explain the process.

I live in central Fla. I have multiple bulbs planted either in the ground or in pots. Some tend to just grow very lengthy long leaves but don't produce flowers. I have trimmed off leaves before reading that would promote energy to flower. Others bloom beautifully. Please any tips for growing, separating bulbs and flowering would help.

The leaves are wilting. They did not bloom this winter. I've been told I need to separate the baby bulbs from the parent. How do I do that? Do they need to be repotted immediately or can I leave them out in the air? What else can you tell me about their care? They live outdoors. How deep should I plant the bulbs?
I have listed several articles that will help you with your questions.

My amaryllis flower has several shoots growing up around the bulb. I have been told that I can remove these shoots and replant in different pots, so is there any specific technique I should know or just dig it up and snip off the shoots and replant them all in different pots? Thanks, Steve
The process is called bulb 'chipping'.

How do you care for an amaryllis bulb forced in water after it blooms? I was given a bulb in water and it bloomed beautifully, but now has finished. What steps do I take to bring it back into bloom in the fall?
