Q.sticky pest on red japanese acer
I have quite a lot of brown/white sticky things on my red Japanese acer. They are on the trunk of the bush. My neighbor thought it was some kind of spore, but I am not sure and would like to find what to spray it with to get rid if it.
A photo would aid in my identification but I will give this my best shot. My best guess, given that you used the word 'sticky' is that your acer is afflicted with a honeydew secreting insect such as scale, aphids or mealy bugs.
