Q.Should I Prune Or Trim My Bouganvilla?

Zone 75034 | gbryan25 added on April 10, 2021 | Answered

THis Bouganvilla is on a West facing patio in Frisco, TX. It’s April 10, I”ve heard I should trim back for thick flowers, or is this one good as it sits? Also, is compost (garage made with coffee, juicing pulp – red beets, grapes, oranges, spinach, carrots, potting soil) good for feed, or do I still need a good flower fertilizer? Thanks for any help! Greg

That one looks like it has already been pruned, and is recovering from the last one. Pruning now will be unnecessary. This article will help you to prune it once it is time:

Making your compost inside requires careful attention. Cold composting requires the correct microbes or worms for proper breakdown of the organic compounds. If you are using heat to compost, then make sure that it is getting hot enough to pasteurize. This article will help you to compost indoors:

This plant is a heavy feeder, so you may opt for an all purpose fertilizer, instead. This article will offer more tips on the care of the plant:
