Zone 98540 | tgypin2 added on April 29, 2018 | Answered

Does the softwood or hardwood cutting need to be immediately dipped into the rooting hormone or growing medium or can there be a time lapse?

Generally, you will want to dip them as soon as possible for the best results, although, some hardweood cuttings do like to sit out for a bit. It will not hurt to dip them, either way.
