Q.Plant identification

Zone Yorkshire, U.K. | Anonymous added on November 8, 2018 | Answered

My friend has a plant growing in his garden and wishes to know what it is. I have searched the web and cannot find it. It is white, small somewhat like a buttercup but with longer stamens and a black/purple pattern on its petals. The small leaves are shaped like an oak leaf.It only grows a few inches tall but has a creeping habit. Can you identify it for us? We presume it is probably a wild flower or a weed.
Thank you.
Judith Shaw.
