Q.Oriental poppies
im wondering why they didn’t bloom this year. First time ever

For oriental poppies to perform at their peak, they require an extended winter chill.
Oriental poppies still require full sun and well-drained soil, but warm climates call for protection from intense midday rays. Heat and humidity also cause foliage and blossoms to struggle. Too much water, even in heat, can have a negative impact on flowering as well. Oriental poppies require only moderate water and thrive in xeriscapes.
Oriental poppy flowers often form without stalks. The buds and flowers remain partially or completely hidden among the large, coarsely cut foliage. Without closer inspection, you may miss poppy blooms as their flowering passes by unnoticed.
