My Pampas Grass Has Died In The Middle. What Do I Do?

I have started to pull out the dead stuff down to the ground. Will the center grow back? It looks silly to have new growth on the outside with a dead center. Can you help?

It just means it needs to be divided. I suggest digging it up and replanting the healthy sections. Here is how:
