Q.Loads of Tiny Whiteflies

Zone Northern NJ, direct sun daily | auntybee1 added on August 27, 2011 | Answered

My hibiscus plant is large and beautiful but has droves of tine whiteflies, don’t know what they are formally called. Everytime I touch the plant to pull off yellowed leaves or fallen flowers, they just fly out and basically attack me, flying all over the place. What are they called? They are very tiny and annoying. Are they ruining my tree/plant, which sits on the deck in a pot, or can I get rid of them and how?

These are indeed whiteflies. This article will help with their control: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/insects/whitefly-control.htm

Neem oil may also help. Here is more information: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/pesticides/neem-oil-uses.htm
