Q.Identifying a plant

Zone WV149XF | Anonymous added on May 28, 2020 | Answered

I am trying to identify a plant that is in flower now. It’s an old fashioned plant and it can be be pink or white. It grows about 60 cm tall and it has spikey shaped flowers. It seems to be that it will grow in very little soil as I have seen it growing outside of gardens almost on the kerbs and on the edges of a driveway. I used to call it goatsbeard when I was small but I have Googled goatsbeard and I always get Astilbe which I love and I have two or three in pots in a sheltered position.

It could be goatsbeard. It has a different botanical name than astilbe and is not related.
