It has been a cool spring, wet for many parts of the country. If this was the case where you live, the combination of cool temps and decreased sunlight (due to overcast days) may have "tricked" the daffodils into blooming later than usual.

thanks for the reply but all my other daffs have flowered and finished ages ago these ones sure seem strange and are in full flower even now
