Q.I Have A Hybrid Dogwood. New Growth’s Leaves Are Different Size And Shape Than Mature Part Of Tree. Now What?

I think my hybrid dogwood’s new growth at the site of first set of branches is reverting back to root stock? I have two types of leaves going on right now. Do I prune out all the new growth with different leaves?
