Q.How to grow smoke trees, zone 7
Sunny spot, eastern facing wall gets hot!
Planning on taking out juniper, planting smoke in center ? Early morning photos
Removing those junipers will be a chore but at least they are shallowly rooted. Smoke tree needs at least 4 hours of direct sunlight to flower; 6+ hours results in an increased number of blooms. I would dig in 4 inches of compost to replace nutrients that the junipers took from the soil. Smoke tree may grow too large for that spot so keep up with pruning. It is easier to maintain than to do drastic pruning if it gets too large. https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/trees/smoke-tree/growing-smoke-trees.htm
