Q.How do I care for my desert rose?

Zone Austin, Texas | Charready added on March 27, 2018 | Answered

I was given a desert rose plant last fall. I wintered it indoors in a south window sill. I Was acclimating it to a sunnier location indoors until the night temperatures out doors were over 55 F . Unfortunately, my cat dug out about 3/4 cup of soil and the plant immediately dropped 5 of its 7 leaves.. I have put it outside in bright sun. Soil is pretty dry, bottom of pot ma be a bit moister as a sparingly watered it three days ago. Plant is approximately 2-2 1/2 feet tall… single stem. Bulge on bottom is small, but definite. How do I baby this along? It survived hurricane Harvey in Rockport last year. Any suggestions would be helpful. This plant has sentimental value as is from a 93 year old family friend.

It isn't as bad as it seems. Rough times can cause it to go into a semi dormant state. This article will help you with proper care so that it is looking its best in no time: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/desert-rose/caring-for-desert-rose-plants.htm
