The simplest way to have more plants is to divide hosta. Growing a hybrid from seed is often disappointing as you don't always end up with the same characteristics of the primary plant. Plant breeders mix characteristics from different hostas to make a hybrid. So several sets of genes are at work; parts of each set get passed on to the seed so what you grow is different from the primary plant.
