Q.Hibiscus “Texas Star”

Zone 35033 | Applecart added on March 29, 2017 | Answered

My four Texas Star hibiscus wintered outdoors; they are beginning to sprout green shoots from the base of the old plant. Do they like acid soil? Can I now trim off the dead long limbs left over from last year? Thanks for your help! Marilyn

Yes, spring is the best time to prune back the dead branches from last year. They do prefer mildly acidic soil, but very acidic soil might not be ideal.
