Container Hibiscus Plants

Q.hibiscus

Anonymous added on June 3, 2015 | Answered

My hibiscus tree has been giving me some large flowers, but over the past days the leaves are turning yellow and not getting any flowers. The plant gets about 3 to 4 hrs of am sun, but then it is shade. On my front porch, we have had temps in the mid to upper 90’s. I have been watering every other day. Need some advice, Thanks.

This is really hard to say with any certainty. You need to just keep an eye on the plant to watch for any changes that may be unfavorable. Some plants can withstand minor 'root pruning' as it were, while others do not. Just continue to care for it as usual and check that it's still green beneath the bark and pliable. This will at least mean that it's still alive...and that means there is hope.

Would you happen to have a picture? It sounds like you may have stinkhorn mushrooms (or a related fungal growth) growing under your plant, but a picture would help to know for sure.

This article should help provide information on how to get rid of this fungus: http://pasco.ifas.ufl.edu/gardening/PDF-stinkhorn_fungi.pdf
