Growing taller fountain grass

Question

We planted our compact fountain grass ‘Hameln’ in late summer last year. Cut back the brown grass early spring this year. We do have healthy looking grass this year, however. They are not growing tall. Instead, the grass is growing low to the ground. When we purchased the grass, they were about 2 feet tall and now they are growing wide not tall. Any sugguestions on how to get them to grow tall again?

This grass starts out shorter in the spring and gets taller after it flowers. When you bought it in late summer, it was at its full height. Give it some more time, and it should get taller.
