Q.Dogwood Trees – buds disappeared

Zone 71909 | Anonymous added on March 25, 2017 | Answered

We have 3 Dogwood trees, plus a Japanese Dogwood. They are watered well all summer, went into the fall/winter with many buds, as usual. But I noticed about a week ago that most of the buds are gone. Have never had this happen. They are all about 15 years old or more. Puzzled!

Inspect the trees for any other signs of disease.
I do think this is most likely an environmental issue. Most likely a cold snap or drop in temperature caused the buds to drop.
The fact that all of your trees are effected points to this direction.
