Q.Can a bougainvillea die in New Mexico?
I planted two pink bougainvilleas last spring and they bloomed beautifully. Winter temps froze and the leaves dried up. Are my plants dead?

Your plants should spring back unless the roots froze. They can withstand a light freeze but not a hard freeze. Cut back any dead leaves and stems and if they survive, consider some special care for next winter. Here's an article that will help:
