Q.About Growing Mint In Pots
Bonnie L Grant had the article on 6 Plants I’d never grow again. I clicked on Growing Mint in a Pot and read the story by Mary H Dyer, about her mint. I had to laugh when she said to grow mint in a pot. Do you realize most pots have drain hole. I was smart to put my mint in a pot. What I didn’t realize, until it was too late, the roots went down, through the drain hole and straight into the soil below and before long I had mint growing everywhere anyway. Just wondered if Mary H Dyer has a recommendation for that problem. Thanks

Ah yes, the great mint escape—classic move! You're absolutely right to laugh; mint is as determined as it is fragrant. That sneaky root system will find any crack or drain hole and tunnel down fast. A clever workaround is placing the pot on a hard, impenetrable surface like a cinder block, paving stone, or even a tray. This keeps the roots contained and prevents them from slipping into the ground unnoticed.
