Please tell me what fungicide to spray on my roses to get rid of the fungus on them. It has affected my rose garden to where all but 2 out of 8 of my bushes have no leaves on them anymore. My prize bush is over 7 feet tall and after the leaves turned yellow they are all fallen off. Please feel free to email me at smartcookie256@gmail.com with any suggestions and answers. Thank you so very much. I hope to hear from you soon. D.. Modglin
It sounds like you have a major attack of black spot or some other funguses as well going on. I would recommend spraying all of your roses with a fungicide called Mancozeb. It is available at Amazon.com. You will likely need to spray your roses down with it 3 to 4 times 5 to 7 days apart to stop a major attack. This product does leave a yellowish powdery residue upon the foliage and canes, that is part of how it works. The black spot markings will not go away but new foliage should be free from it once the fungus has been killed.
Some of the leaves are curled under. What is this? What is the best time of day to spray fungicide on rose?
The curling under of leaves can be caused my the Sawfly whom injects a substance into the leaves after laying her eggs that makes them curl to protect the eggs. It can also be cause by other egg laying insects. The best way to get at them is by use of a systemic insecticide. I recommend using some Bayer Tree and Shrub Granules applied per the label instructions for Ornamentals/Shrubs/Roses. I have had great success with this product. I use Green Cure fungicide which is a earth friendly fungicide and spray either early morning or early evening once the temps have cooled a bit. Remember to water your rosebushes well the day prior to any pesticide application or even fertilizing them. A well hydrated rosebush is far less likely to have any sort of negative reaction.
Is there a faster way to get rose leafs sprouting?
Not really. The timing has to be just right to get them to sprout at all. Also if you bought rose seeds on-line be aware that many of them are unfortunately a scam to get your money.... Some are weed or other plant seeds while some are just small clumps of organic matter that will never do anything. Here is a link to an article about starting roses from seed for you: https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/ornamental/flowers/roses/growing-roses-from-seed.htm
The leaves on one of our rose bushes have turned brown from the middle of each leaf and are limp and starting to curl. The edges of the leaves are greenish brown. This has affected most of the leaves on the bush and the buds are not growing or opening. Please help, as I can find no information on any website.
Water the rosebush well. Then give it a treatment of either Bayer Tree & Shrub Granules or the ones made specifically for rosebushes. It could also be that a neighbor hood dog has peed on the rosebush as that will cause the same effects you have described. In that case, prune off the effected leaves and water the rose well. Water the rosebush with some water that has both a good root stimulator in it and a product called Super Thrive in it. Do this the next 4 to 5 times the bush needs watering and relief should be seen.
Can they kill blooms?
If it is a vine weed like Bind Weed, yes it can. The weed steels nutrients from the rosebushes both at the root zone and chokes of some of the sunlight the rosebushes need. Thus it is best not to allow the vines to grow up and around the rosebushes.
I've got a Chicago Peace rose that was full of healthy blooms until 2-3 weeks ago. I can see the black spots but it seems like there may be multiple problems with my rose. I treated it with this product 6 days ago. Could someone help identify the problem(s) and whether the following product will be effective? Thanks!
The Bayer tree and shrub granules I mentioned in my other answer to your other question should help with this as well. I would also spray the rosebushes with a product called Green Cure at the Cure Rate every 7 to 10 days for a while to get funguses under control. http://greencure.net/
I have a few shrub roses that have been blooming and wilting immediately. I believe I've been over-watering and that will be taken care of. However, it appears there may be more than one culprit. I would very much appreciate it if someone confirm my diagnosis and let me know if there is a separate disease/pest at work besides my unfortunate gardening skills.
I would give all of your rosebushes a treatment of Bayer Tree & Shrub Granules. This product has both a fertilizer and an insecticide/disease control element to it. The fertilizer helps give the rosebushes strength to help fight stresses and shocks and the systemics move up through the root system and into the roses natural juices to get after the insects that like to munch on and skeletonize the leaves. Apply per the label instructions for Shrubs/ornamentals. The blooms may be effected by some thrips as to why they wilt quickly. Water the rosebushes well the night before any insecticide or fungicide treatment. Then water again lightly after the application.
