Yucca Plant Question

Hi, I re- potted my Yucca plant a few weeks ago as it was touching the ceiling, I cut the stem down as picture, it’s been shedding its lower stalks and have removed 3 or 4 so far, I water twice a week and it’s always moist, is this the plant trying to adjust or the start of something else?

Yucca are not propagated like other plants. They need to dry and callus before planting in soil, or the rooting end will rot.
