Q.Yucca flowering.

Zone Hp13qp | RHA added on June 2, 2017 | Answered

We have a 10-13yr old yucca that has just flowered for the first time and can’t work out what it’s veriaty name is. It’s grown up agains a 4ft fence panel untill last year when we increased the fence height to 6ft now shielding it from any northerly weather pattern, do you think this has encouraged it to flower.

Thank you.

That is a soap yucca. It is definitly growing flowers! They do better when shielded from harsh winds. Just make sure to cut the flowering stems back when they start to seed or you're going to have a lot of yucca around. They produce a lot of seeds.
