Q.Young Grape Vine

Zone Eldon Iowa 52554 | Ed Koetsier added on May 23, 2020 | Answered

I have a grape vine only 3 years old. It is loaded with grapes this Summer. I have been told I should take them off. Why? Will leaving them on set the vine back? A shame I feel to destroy the grapes but maybe I should. Thanks

No, no! Don't do that! This is the year that you have been waiting for. 3rd year grapes are ideal. After this, you will be pruning some of the older cane back for rejuvenation.
