Are these grubs bad for plants in pots?

Witchetty grubs feed only on a few specific plant species, including the witchetty bush, so they're unlikely to harm your garden. There are some other grub species that have a similar appearance, such as the curl grub, which is harmful to potted plants. Hand removal is the best way to control them:
