Winter Pruning

Question

My mother’s beautiful butterfly bush was severely damaged during the last winter storm here in New York. can I prune it back now even with the possibility of getting more snow, or should I just wait until spring?

I would wait until spring, just in case of further snow. The damaged limbs will actually protect the rest of the plant in the snow.
