Will lavender live if planted in full sun in zone 9b (Tampa, Florida)?

I’m interested in planting white lavender in front of my porch (in attempts to fend off mosquitos and for the lovely smell of course.) Do you think this will grow? Any suggestions on the type of lavender that will grow best?
