Q.Will crape myrtles grown from seed have the same color blossoms as the parent plant?
My friend has a lovely crape myrtle with flowers that are red with white edges. Can I propagate it from seeds or do I need to root cuttings. I have not been successful with tip cuttings in the past.

Seedlings may not be true to color.
Try taking cuttings in the spring, I don't know about root cuttings, not a common practice.

Or buy from this company in Gainsville;
