Q.will a plant grow from a yucca tuber

Zone southwestern Washington | cutterdee added on June 4, 2014 | Answered

I was removing iris tubers and turning flower bed dirt when I pulled up tubers from a yucca plant. Put the tubers back in the ground. Will I get new yucca plants?

Yucca will root from pieces of the rhizome. Typical directions are to plant 3" sections of rhizome into pots of free draining soil, and keep them slightly damp until they root and sprout. But yuccas are so eager, the rhizomes might well sprout just from where you've left them.
