Q.why is my smoke tree scraggly
I pruned my smoke tree last year and was told to cut the scraggly parts, which I did. Now it is scraggly again. Why?

Smoke trees tend to have a rangy, splayed growth habit which is why annual pruning is important to keep it more compact and to strengthen limbs.
