why does my potted vine of 5 years smell sour.

Question

I donnot know name of vine…..looks similar to grape vine. leaves are curling and turning brown…..water comes out from bottom of vine reddish color and smells rancid……could this be root rot?

I would repot and replace the soil with a good quality commercial potting mix.
