Q.Why Are The Blueberries I Bought From The Market Flowering?

Zone 33578 | cheekmonk15 added on March 7, 2023 | Answered

I bought blueberries from the supermarket two days ago and they have been in my fridge since then. My son found that several of the berries had started to flower. Why is that and can we plant them?

Unfortunately, your photos did not come through. I am unable to see what you are referencing.

Typically, the flowers will fall off, well, before the fruit has a chance to form. It is possible that some of the flowers have fallen into the container, or possible that the protruding flaps of blueberry left behind when the petals fall could be mistaken for flowers.

If you overcome the chill hours of the blueberry seeds within the fruit, you can plant those, however! Usually, only lowbrush will be able to be done in this way, though.
