Q.Why Are My Water Lilies’ Leaves and Stems Red Instead of Green?

mhill added on May 31, 2011 | Answered

I have established water lilies in my pond and they are coming up with red leaves and stems instead of green. They otherwise look healthy. What’s up?

Cooler temperatures can cause the stems and leaves to have a reddish cast. As the weather warms up, this should fade and the plants will be green again.
