Is Lettuce Sap Harmful

Wondering if the lettuce saps are harmful or allergic to human body? Or is it safe to use naked hands in lettuce seed collection?

Milky sap is perfectly normal and will not pose any threat to you. Some sensitive people, however, may experience mild contact dermatitis upon handling lettuce. If you are one of these rare individuals, I would suggest using gloves whenever you must handle the plant.
