Q.When You Suggest Burying A Lilac For The Winter, Does That Mean In The Container?

I have a potted lilac I bought this fall but the landscape team is not coming until Spring to plant it with the rest of the landscape work. How can I keep it safe through a PNW winter.

If it's a small shrub, you can bury the container or "heel" it in for extra care. Most lilacs are very hardy. Or you can shelter it close to the house in a group with other potted plants. Here is more:
