Burning bush, Euonymus alata, is very forgiving. Prune it either this winter while it is dormant or early next spring as it starts to leaf out. This shrub's branches will grow large and have fewer leaves if a few aren't pruned out every year or so. Cut old wood close to the ground. If there are dead, diseased or damaged branches, these can be removed anytime, the sooner the better.
