Q.When does Salvia bloom?
I bought Salvia seed out of the grocery store to see if it would grow. I only bought a small pack in the organinc section for $1.26. Boy has it grown and is over 6 feet tall. I have watered it faithfully every day but it doesn’t bloom! It is pretty and green but is it something to do with it being used to put in your smoothies or foods? I don’t know if I should just cut it down now that we are almost into September or see what happens. I bet some of the plants are 10ft. tall. We have honey bees and I am trying to find something for them to eat. This year is extremely tough. I have fed them all summer. WE have been attacked by Wax Moths and just can’t get rid of them we have lost 15 hives. We check them every day. WE have had an extemly wet summer don’t know if that is the cause or not. Our older hive is doing quiet well but the newer hives are not doing to good.

There are many types of Salvia. They can bloom throughout the summer and into early fall.
Excess nitrogen can cause lack of flowers.
