When Do You Know A Passion Fruit Is Ripe?

Question

We have an abundance of passion fruit but they do not appear to be ripening – see photos. Should they turn a different colour when ripe? If not, when do we know if they are ripe? Is there anything we can do to help them ripen? Thank you
