Q.What’s wrong with my peace lily?

Zone 37228 | Anonymous added on February 7, 2020 | Answered

I bought a peace lily 3 months ago and it has been doing fine up until the past few weeks. I noticed that a few leaves died and one of the two flowers was brown and wilting. I cut that flower off at the base but the second one is beginning to turn brown as well. There are also 2 leaves with small holes in it. Originally I thought I was over or under watering it but now I’m wondering if it has a pest or disease. The plant has always been indoors so I’m not too sure if that is it either. Thanks for the help!

This sounds like a fungal infection starting, which is usually caused by overwatering, or soil remaining too wet for too long. Mix 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide with 1 cup of water next time you water the plant. This will kill off anything lurking in the soil.

After this, you will want to only water when the top two inches of soil are completely dry. This will prevent issues in the future.
