Lichen or other growth on a kousa dogwood. We’re in what I consider zone 4/5, 3000 feet. Tree is on the nw side of home. Suggestions? Thanks

It is typically harmless and very common. It does indicate that the ambient humidity is high enough to support their growth, which may not be a good thing for some plants and trees if it suggests that overwatering is happening. If you drive through the humid cities in the south, you will see it there too. Here is more:
