Q.What type of Linden Tree would be best suited near a highway?

Zone Hillsborough, NJ | thalerz added on May 9, 2015 | Answered

The tree would be in front of a building set back from the highway, but the fumes of traffic would be around. Also, if weather is severe, i.e. very windy or snow, it is an open area that would get the brunt of the weather. The location is in central New Jersey.

You will want an American Linden tree. If possible, look for the 'Boulevard' or 'Douglas' cultivar. These will be the most tolerant of your conditions.
