Q.What Tree Can I Plant In A Large Container On My Somewhat Windy West Facing Balcony?

Zone London | Anonymous added on February 7, 2021 | Answered

I have a west facing balcony garden and my Acer I’ve had for three years has performed poorly with leaf burn and while last year it started extremely well by June the leaves all burned and I think it is really damaged now. I want to replace it and would like deciduous tree suggestions. What is best to plant in this situation?
Thanks

Besides Japanese maples (there are varieties that take more sun), popular container trees include Olive, Bay tree, Pomegranate, Star magnolia, crape myrtle and Meyer lemon. Try a topiary form of box, yew, privet, or holly (though they are evergreen.)
