Q.What to Plant in Garden Between South Facing Wall and Sidewalk

Anonymous added on October 5, 2011 | Answered

What can be grown along a south facing wall with only 3 feet to the sidewalk? We would like a tall (up to 15′) flowering or interesting plant that would not get watered often for a Zone 7 barrier island.

You may want to look at trumpet vine. It is a very hardy plant that likes sun and grows well just about anywhere. I will warn you that some people find it gets a bit aggressive. Climbing hydrangea is another possibility, but that spot may be just a bit too hot for it to do really well in.
