Q.What To Grow On An Old Compost Heap

Zone Shropshire | Annapriceless added on May 28, 2020 | Answered

I’ve gained an old compost heap in the corner of our new garden, it’s too big to dig up & move, but it’s a bit of a wasted space & im constantly pulling nettles up out of it What would be the best thing (shrub ideally) that would cope with the variety of material (bits of stick… old grass cuttings etc) Thanns

The problem is that most plants, with the exception of weeds and other hardy plants, will not grow in compost alone. This contains way too much nutrients for most plants. If you were to mix in some topsoil with this, then it could be suitable for just about anything.
